Dr. Massingill graduated from THE University of Texas at Austin in December 1980 and from the
University of Texas Medical School at Houston in 1985. He began his career as an intern at John Peter Smith hospital in his hometown of Fort Worth shortly thereafter, completing OBGYN residency in 1989.
After serving in the United States Air Force, he returned to John Peter Smith and joined the clinical
faculty as Director of Outreach Clinics. His career at JPS saw him serve as President of Medical Staff
and the Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. In January 2017, he assumed the role of Chief Medical Officer for Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas.
Currently, Dr. Massingill is Section 2 Chair for District XI of American College of Obstetricians and
Gynecologists (ACOG) and serves ACOG as a delegate to the American Medical Association. He is
past president of the Texas Medical Association Foundation and current member of the Texas Medical Association Council on Science and Public Health. Dr. Massingill is past President and a current member of the Tarrant County Medical Society Board of Directors.
Dr. Massingill has been married to his wife, Debbie since 1981 and has three adult children. He is an
avid amateur golfer and a fervent University of Texas Longhorn fan.
